"Steady Stream"

by Joe Dowdle

Hands outreached a child cries
For the last drop of water of her life
Rain will come and the streets will flood at her feet
That child's tears are the only thing fit to drink

Steady, steady stream (we need)
Steady, steady stream (we need)

In the heat of the day, the rest had closed their eyes
When a thirsty woman was offered the water of life
Happening now as sure as it happened then
We walk towards the well to start new again

Steady, steady stream (we need)
Steady, steady stream (we need)

How will we reach the water below?
Without falling to the bottom of the hole
You brought the water to my feet
You brought the water we all need

Steady, steady stream (we need)
Steady, steady stream (we need)
Steady, steady stream (we need)
Steady, steady stream (we need)
